INAUGURAL SWIM CONFERENCE A HIT
26 Apr 2007 16:19

More than 500 teachers and coaches from across the country were in Leicester today to hear the latest developments of the ASA’s updated National Plan for Teaching Swimming.

The National Plan, set to be available for implementation from September, was officially launched at the inaugural ASA Swimming Teachers Conference which was also attended by British Swimming Performance Director Bill Sweetenham and Olympic bronze medallist Steve Parry.

ASA staff members and experts from within the industry were on hand to present on the revised Plan and provide information on its implementation and the implications for the Kellogg’s ASA Awards scheme. Sessions were also held on teacher and coach licensing, school swimming, approved education centre status and the UKCC Teaching qualifications.

Further details from the conference will be available on www.britishswimming.org from early next week (week commencing 30 April).

For those that missed out on attending the sell-out conference, a second event is being coordinated by the ASA and WASA in Cardiff on 4 June. For further details contact Penny John-Pearse on penny.john-pearse@welshasa.co.uk
