DIVERS FACE GERMANY IN HEAD-TO-HEAD MEET
27 Apr 2007 15:16

British Diving will face a stern test against a German diving team full of experience and confidence following their haul of four medals from last month’s World Championships in Melbourne.

The duel meet has been organised by British Diving National Performance Director Steve Foley in preparation for next February’s final Olympic qualification opportunity, the FINA Diving World Cup in Beijing.

Foley will be exposing his divers to the head-to-head meet with Germany to enhance their performances and sharpen their routines as part of the preparation for the Olympic qualifying event.

“We need to give the athletes a strong challenge at the end of the year and this Britain v Germany meet will provide that,” explained Foley. “Germany is a very good diving nation and has some real depth and experience within its squad.

“It will be an exciting meet and Britain’s divers are more than capable of competing against their visitors. What we want to see is our divers repeatedly standing up against some far more experienced competitors and proving their talent.”

The meet will be held in Sheffield in October and will be a tough test with limited numbers ensuring all divers have very little time between rounds and therefore face an intense competitive experience.
