BRITISH DIVERS FACE STERN TEST AT GRAND PRIX
09 May 2007 15:22

Britain’s divers will face a stern test at the USA leg of the FINA Grand Prix in Florida this weekend where a world class field will contest the latest round of the annual series.

A squad of seven British World Class Podium programme athletes, including Olympic silver medallist Peter Waterfield (Southampton), will be looking to get a season underway which will culminate early next year in qualifying Britain in as many events as possible for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Waterfield (26) said: “I am really looking forward to competing in Fort Lauderdale. The work I’ve done since returning from the World Championships in March gives me a lot of confidence and it would be great to come away with one of the top places.”

Waterfield will be competing in the 10metre Individual event on Friday 11th May and also hopes to perform in the 3metre Individual and the 10metre Synchronised dive throughout the four-day meet.

Britain will also be in action at the Spanish, Italian and German legs of the FINA Diving Grand Prix series next month.
