Day 5 of the World Masters Championships at Stanford consisted entirely of relay events. Up against tough competition from the USA clubs, the British club teams won 2 silvers and 5 bronze medals. Out of the 42 age group gold medals up for grabs in the relay events USA club teams dominated by winning 36 of them, the only other countries with gold medals in the relays were Japan (4) and Canada (2).
In the Womens relay events bronze medals went to British Armed Forces for 100-119yrs Freestyle Relay in 1:56.02 and the 100-119yrs Medley Relay in 2:14.04. Heart of England won bronze in the 200-239yrs Medley Relay in 2:20.87
The only medal winner in the Mens relay events was the Britsh Armed Forces team in the 100-119yrs Medley Relay in 1:52.46, however BAF also set a new British Record in the 160-199yrs Medley Relay in 1:56.08 for 11th place and equalled the British Record in the 160-199yrs Freestyle Relay in 1:45.37 for 18th place
In the Mixed relays the medals came from the Medley event only. Otter SC claimed silver in the 100-119yrs age group in 2:02.57 with British Armed Forces close behind in bronze position with 2:02.65. Heart of England claimed bronze in the 240-79yrs age group in 2:21.84 and also set a new British Record for the 200-239yrs age group in 2:11.78 for 8th place.
