ASHER CLOSES CHAMPS WITH WORLD RECORD

The final day of the pool events at the World Masters Championships at Stanford, Jane Asher (Kings Cormorants) finished how she started by setting a new World Record in the 75-79yrs 400m Freestyle with a time of 6:13.20. Karen Elly (Hyde Seal) set a new 45-49yrs British Record with 5:00.41.

In the Mens 400m Freestyle Geoff Stokes (Spencer) took Gold with 5:20.46 and Ian McClean (Southport) Silver with 5:27.00 in the 65-69yrs age group.

The Womens 50m Backstroke saw Tara Hutt (Havant & Waterloo SC) and Janet Brown (Spencer) each claiming Silver medals in the 25-29yrs and 65-69yrs age groups with times of 33.07 and 43.25 respectively.

In the Mens 50m Backstoke, Cliff Ward (Stockton) set a new British Record of 40.70 while wining the Gold medal in the 75-79yrs age group. Ben Rooker (British Armed Forces) claimed Bronze medal in the 25-29yrs age group with a time of 29.68
