FINA has confirmed the dates of its 2008 World Masters Championships to be staged at the Challenge Stadium in Perth (Western Australia) next year.
The seventh World Masters Championships will take place from 15-25 April 2008 at the Challenge Stadium, which has already played host to two FINA World Championships. And the stadium’s five pools will ensure swimming, diving, synchronised swimming and water polo can be accommodated under one roof.
Up to 10,000 participants and spectators are expected to attend the event at the sunniest city in Australia and the organising committee is planning to put on a show with live entertainment, shopping and food on offer at Challenge Stadium and a packed programme of events and activities for all spectators.
Executive Officer of the Organising Committee Tom Hoad is looking forward to welcoming competitors from around the world.
“Perth has set itself the challenge of being the best Masters Championship ever and preparations are happening as we speak,” he said. “More than 70 countries were represented at the last event in California in 2006 and Perth can expect at least that number.”
