Jane Asher and Willy Van Rysel have been recognised for their swimming achievements by Swimming World Magazine which has named the duo in its Top 12 World Masters of 2006 list.
The pair feature in the Aprl issue of Swimming World Magazine and are named alongside other World greats including Graham Johnston, Marcus Mattioli and Laura Val.
In the past year, Asher and Van Rysel have smashed 36 World records between them and proved their standing in the 2006 World Masters list.
Swimming in the 75-79 age group, King’s Cormorants swimmer Asher broke an impressive 23 world records last year, dominating the freestyle and butterfly events at both long and short course meets.
Asher told Swimming World Magazine: “I set out to cover every event, long course and short course, and it is easier to remember the records that I didn’t break last year.”
Spencer Swim Team’s Van Rysel, who swims in the 90-94 age group, broke an impressive 13 World records last year and is delighted to be recognised for her achievements.
“I am very honoured and pleased to find out that I have been chosen as one of the 12 World Masters Swimmers of the Year,” she told Swimming World Magazine.
