British divers Peter Waterfield and Leon Taylor moved a step closer to winning another Olympic medal each when they progressed to the next stage of the 10m platform event in Athens on Friday.
The pair, who on the opening day won the first of Team GB's 26 medals so far, went through comfortably to Saturday's semi finals, although there was a sluggish start for Sheffield's Leon Taylor.
The three-time Olympian started the competition in 18th place but progressed through the five rounds to finish 11th of the 18 qualifiers in 433.38.
Waterfield, the reigning Commonwealth champion came fourth in the preliminaries this afternoon with 474.03 points.
Taylor and Waterfield ended a 44-year medals famine for British diving with their silver medal in the 10m platform synchro. Both semi and final will be contested tomorrow.
