Members of the club attended the awards ceremony at the Grange Hotel in London, where Lowestoft and Oulton Broad was named third in the national competition receiving a £1,000 bursary, presented by Sir Bobby Charlton and Rt Hon Richard Caborn MP.

Lowestoft and Oulton Broad was recently awarded both Teaching and Skill Development accreditation under the Amateur Swimming Association’s club development model, Swim 21.

With more than 550 members, the club provides sessions for both able-bodied and disabled athletes. Members vary from youngsters on the club’s learn to swim programme, to those swimming for health and fitness and others that compete on a national and international level.

Club President Brian Rivett is thrilled with the clubs’ recognition in the national competition and will look to continue the clubs success.

“We are really happy to have been named third best sports club in the UK,” he said. “We have worked hard with a dedicated team on poolside to ensure that we deliver the best quality learn to swim and coaching that we can.”

“We are all proud to have been nominated by the national governing body for this award. It is nice to have recognition for our hard work.”
