Some of the ASA’s top volunteers attended the prestigious 2006 Coaching Awards on behalf of the national governing body to celebrate their achievements in sport.
Ten volunteers, coaches and teachers from across the regions were present at the glittering ceremony and rubbed shoulders with sporting greats including Lord Sebastien Coe, Sir Clive Woodward, Sir Trevor Brooking and Roger Black.
Emma Patrick (Leominster, West Midlands), Pina Hannan (Chesterfield, North East), Denise Pollock (Saltburn & Marske, North East), Tony Holmes (Nottingham Leander, East Midlands), Alex Dawson (City of Leicester, East Midlands), Paul Sartain (Bath Dolphin, South West), Tony Smith (City of Canterbury, South East), Derek Beaumont (Beaumont Diving Academy, East), Michelle Weltman (London Disability Squad) and Ian Macleod (Havering Cormorants DC, London) were recommended by their regions in honour of their commitment to swimming water polo and diving.
The evening, organised by sports coach UK and hosted at the Dorchester Hotel in London, was a celebration of coaches and honoured leaders from a range of sports including gymnastics, dragon boat racing, badminton, archery and hockey.
