MANAGER APPOINTED TO LEAD NATIONAL PLAN
07 Mar 2007 13:07

The ASA has appointed former regional business manager Helen Evans to oversee the implementation of its revised National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS).

Evans, who has been working for the ASA for almost four years, has been appointed as National Education Officer (NPTS) and will manage the training, resources and implementation of the Plan.

A swimmer at national level, a qualified swimming teacher and a committee member at Ledbury SC, Evans is well qualified to lead the introduction of the new plan and has already been working alongside the National Plan Consultative Group, ASA Business Team, Regional Offices and pilot centres to ensure everything’s on track.

The National Plan will be unveiled at the ASA Swimming Teaching Conference on April 26 and resources are set to be available from September this year.

Evans is delighted to be leading the implementation of the new plan.

“It’s an exciting time for swimming and swimmer development,” she said. “The new plan is even more athlete-focussed and by including all disciplines it encourages young swimmers to learn a wide range of skills.

“We’ve been conducting a series of pilots and we’ve had some really positive feedback. The challenge now is to make sure training is accessible to the regions and there is support to providers through our business partnerships.”

To be first to find out about the revised plan and speak to the people behind its re-design, teachers and swimming providers are invited to the inaugural ASA Swimming Teaching Conference. Taking place at the Walkers Stadium on Thursday 26 April, ASA and IoS members can attend for as little as £45.
