NATIONAL PLAN SEMINARS AVAILABLE TO SWIMMING TEACHERS
23 May 2007 13:41

Seminars are being run to give swimming teachers an understanding of the newly revised National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS).

The seminars will give teachers the chance to share their thoughts, while improving their skills in the delivery of the NPTS, and are based on developing ideas and practices with the use of selected examples from the new syllabus.

Six NPTS specific seminars will be held from June 2007 and will give people an insight in the philosophy of the revised plan.

The NPTS is a framework for learn to swim programmes, providing teachers with a clear and consistent approach for the structure and delivery of swimming lessons. All swimmers following the NPTS benefit from a quality assured scheme.

Introduced in 1998, the NPTS is one of the most successful programmes ever introduced by a sports governing body and has become the preferred framework for the delivery of learn to swim lessons throughout the UK.

It is underpinned by Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD), and incorporates all of the aquatic disciplines.

All seminars are being organised by the Regional Education Officers for the Amateur Swimming Association.
