GENERAL INFORMATION

Finest sporting moment: Winning gold at the Commonwealth Games (2006) and swimming at the Olympics (2004)

Tip for the top:  Persistency and consistency are the key to reaching the top. Stick with it for the long haul as you can't expect immediate results

First GB selection year: 2003

Sporting heroes: Adrian Moorhouse, Nick Gillingham and Michael Johnson

Other sporting successes: As a child I won local canoeing awards. I was also a member of the schools basketball, hockey and football teams

Favourite sport other than swimming: I enjoy watching athletics, football, snooker, anything really. I like watching anything that is being taken part in at a high level

Three words that best describe you: Enthusiastic, driven and passionate

Most prized possession: Sense of humour!

Biggest influence on career: My fiancé Erica and my parents

Toughest opponent: Myself, any negative thoughts that I have and self-limitations

Biggest passion away from swimming: Enjoying life and anything it throws at you

How do you prepare to race: I prepare by being true to myself and trusting myself. I know that I will have done all of the training that I needed so it comes down to trusting that it will all come together

Biggest disappointment: I no longer regret things, so my biggest disappointment is all the time I wasted in the past regretting

Favourite venue and why: The Athens Olympic pool it was amazing

Family: My mum is called Lynn and she's a Teaching Assistant in a school with disabled children. My dads name is Tony and he works on oilrigs

Ultimate ambition: To win an Olympic gold medal

Where do you see yourself in 10 years: Happy and being true to myself and only answering the questions in life that I want to answer
