GENERAL INFORMATION

First sporting success:
Winning a bronze medal at my club championships when i was 10 - in 100m Breaststroke!!

Finest sporting moment: Winning gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 in the 800m Freestyle and getting a bronze at the World Championships in 2003 in the 800m Freestyle also

Tip for the top: Train hard, persevere and enjoy it

First GB selection year: 1998

Sporting heroes: Anyone who reaches the top of their sport and sustains that for a long time

Closest friends in sport: Katy Sexton and Kirsty Balfour

Other sporting successes: I was Reading Cross Country Champion if that counts!

Favourite sport other than swimming: Football when England play, and athletics

Three words that best describe you: Tenacious, thoughtful and friendly

Would most like to meet: Jesse Owens and David Beckham

Most prized possession: My photo albums and my health

Biggest influence on career: My coach Stephen Hill and my team mates

Any other family connections to sport: Both my sisters swam in the National Age Groups and my Dad swam a mile once and he's says that's why I'm a good swimmer!

Toughest opponent: Laure Manaudou (FRA)

Biggest passion away from swimming: My university work

Biggest disappointment: Not swimming as well as I could have at the World Championships in Montreal (2005)

How do you prepare to compete: To prepare I try to relax and to help me to do this I listen to music. I don’t have any favourite bands but I don’t listen to anything cheesy!!

Favourite venue and why: Manchester - I like the pool and have swam well there in the past

Tips to relax: Reading always helps me

Education: I am studying Physiology at Glasgow University

Family: My mum is called Jill and she is a teacher. My Dad is a Marketing Director and I also have two twin sisters - Katie and Emily

Ultimate ambition: To be the best I can be in everything I do and win an Olympic medal

Where do you see yourself in 10 years time: Hopefully being successful in a job I enjoy
