GENERAL INFORMATION

First sporting success:
Equalling the British junior record for 200m breast in Bath, 2001

Finest sporting moment: Coming second at Olympic Trials after having giving everything I could before that competition, looking back I know that’s as well as I could have done and it’s a good feeling

Tip for the top: Don’t do things by halves, if you know you want to succeed in your sport you have to give it all you can, every day. I never want to look back and feel like I left any stones unturned

First GB selection year: 2001

Sporting heroes: Lance Armstrong, Amanda Beard and Steve Parry

Closest friends in sport: Katherine Wyld and Natalie Prince – we’ve been on so many teams together!

Favourite sport other than swimming: Cross-country running

Three words that best describe you: Impulsive, sensitive, busy

Would most like to meet: Lance Armstrong

Most prized possession: My car (and my driving licence!)

Biggest influence on career: Not making 2004 Olympic team, its made me even more focussed and determined

Toughest opponent: Anyone in the world who’s ranked faster than me

Favourite venue: Manchester

Tips to relax: Put some (Al Green or Savage Garden) music on and totally clear your mind

Where do you see yourself in 10 years: I’ll hopefully be in a career to do with sport, with and Olympic medal on my trophy cabinet
