Other sporting successes: I used to waterski, I was ranked fourth in Britain at one time. I also used to play football. I was invited to try out for a football academy. I also enjoy athletics

Most prized possession: My mum, my friends and my dog. I've got a white Jack Russell!

Biggest influence on career: My mum and my friends

What is it like to be a role model for so many young swimmers: It's amazing- I didn't realise to be honest. It's great to be having a good influence on the careers of young swimmers

Toughest opponent: Myself

Biggest passion away from swimming: Family and friends

Biggest disappointment: The Athens Olympics (2004)

How do you prepare to race: I prepare by remembering the good things in life and enjoying it. To relax I like to walk my dog

Favourite venue: Anywhere with water where I can achieve great things

Education: I am doing a degree in Sports Science at Loughborough University

Family: My mum is called Lorraine and she is a secretary. My dad is called Alan and he is an Insurance salesman

Ultimate ambition: To complete the perfect race!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years: Working in orphanages in Africa
