First sporting success: Breaking the Scottish Junior record in the 400m I.M, winning me a bronze medal. I had to do a T.V interview after and I was so nervous
Finest sporting moment: Competing at the Commonwealth Games (2006). Winning bronze at the British Championships (2005), which was my first Open British meet
Tip for the top: Train hard and never give up. Also I think it's really important to set yourself achievable goals
First GB selection year: 2005
Sporting heroes: Misty Hyman (USA) because she believed in herself in the 2000 Olympic 200m fly final & simply went for it, she looked so relaxed before the race! Also, because I have trained at Stanford University where she swam and that is an amazing facility. Also Rebecca Cooke. I really admire the way that she's focused on her swimming and still achieves academically. It must be hard to get the balance right between the two. I also think that you have to be your own role model and make your own path in life too
Closest friend in sport: My coach! Who's also my dad!
Other sporting successes: Well..........no, not really. I was once got nominated as Player of the Match when I used to play netball
Favourite sport other than swimming: I like to watch gymnastics when it's on as well as rugby because that's what Jonny Wilkinson plays!
Do you have any interests outside swimming: Playing the piano, the flute and netball
Three words that best describe you: Funny, sporty and friendly
Would most like to meet: Ian Thorpe
Most prized possession: My stuffed rabbit. It's a gentle reminder of my rabbit that died
Biggest influence on career: Everything that surrounds me. I take experiences from everything and try and learn from it if I can.
Toughest opponent: Steph Proud and Julie Gould
Any pets: I have four guinea pigs and a cat. One of my guinea pigs is blind!
Do you have any pet hates: Dishonesty, bullying & heavy metal music!
Biggest passion away from swimming: Music, art and reading. My favourite book is the Horse Whisperer
What sort of music do you listen to: Loads - pop music, classical - anything
Biggest disappointment: I try not to look at my swimming like that. If something doesn't go how I planned, I try to take as many positive experiences from it as I can and then learn from my mistakes so that I can improve for the next race
Are you related to anybody famous now or in your family's past: My Dad invented the Aqua Pacer - its cool!
Any other family connections to sport: My dad's my coach
Favourite venue and why: Manchester Aquatics Centre because It's a great pool with an amazing atmosphere. When I swim there I always feel comfortable swimming there, which I think is really important. I also like the 50m pool in Glasgow. I really like the design of the pool and love the feeling of swimming there.
Family: My mum's name is Carmel and she's in her final year of studying social work. My dad is called Patrick and he's my coach but he's also a helicopter pilot. He flies people, for a company called Bristow, to oil rigs. I've also got two little brothers called Alistair and Joseph
Ultimate ambition: To win an Olympic gold medal
Where do you see yourself in 10 years: Hopefully I'll still be swimming and competed in an Olympics by then. I really want to do a Medical degree as well though and specialise in Sports Medicine
