GENERAL INFORMATION

First sporting success: In June 2003 I came second at the DSE East Midlands Regional Championships

Finest sporting moment: Setting a new World Record in the SM5 100m I.M. at the DSE Junior National Championships, March 2006, following that two weeks later with a new S5 Short Course World Record in the 100m Butterfly at the Bedfordshire County Championships

Tip for the top:
“Swim all your training sessions to the best of your ability.” and “You won’t get it unless you want it.”

First GB selection year: 2005

How and why get involved in swimming: Through my Junior School. I was spotted by a coach from Luton SC

Closest friends in sport: Jessica Brown at my swimming club, and Eleanor Simmonds who is on World Class Start programme

Other sporting successes: I won some trophies for Ballroom dancing

Favourite sport other than swimming: Tennis

Three words that best describe you: Loud, chatty and friendly

Most prized possession: A picture of me and my cat who died of cancer

Any pets: I have a cat called Maggie

Biggest passion away from swimming: I enjoy science at school

Biggest disappointment: At the Bedfordshire County Championships in 2006 I fell over and couldn’t finish competing in my races that day

Favourite venue: Ponds Forge, Sheffield

Tips to relax: Focus on you are doing – especially on the blocks or just before the race

Ultimate ambition: To swim in front of my family and friends at the 2012 Paralympics

Where do you see yourself in 10 years: Hopefully still swimming and in a career
