Favourite event: Like both the 100m and 200m Freestyle. I’m best at the 200m Freestyle but the 100m Freestyle is shorter!
Finest ever performance/Why: Commonwealth Games 2006. I swam the anchor leg in the 4x200m Freestyle relay for England. It was a great feeling overtaking both the Aussies and the Scots to win the gold for England
First senior international meet: 2003 World Champs in Barcelona, aged 18
Role models: I admire anyone that is successful
My aspirations are: I want to win a medal at every major meet. I have World (SC) European and Commonwealth so far.
Tip for the top: Believe in yourself and your training. Also have fun
Life after swimming: Want to remain involved in sport or maybe a job where I need to be active, such as the Police or Fire service.
Music: I listen to the radio in my car a lot. Nothing really specific, whatever is on really. I don’t listen to music just before I compete, like some swimmers do.
If I wasn’t a swimmer I would be a: Police or Fire service I think.
Football, Cricket or Rugby: Football. I follow Derby as that is where I was born. It was a great achievement for us to reach the Premier League last year. We’ve now been relegated, so next year is a very important year for us.
Describe yourself in three words: Relaxed / Fun / Easy-going
Would most like to meet: It always use to be The Queen, however, I met her in 2004, after competing in the Athens Olympics. Now, probably Paul Jewell, Derby Manager
Most prized possession: House Keys. Without them I’m in trouble.
Biggest influence on career: My parents. Without them I wouldn’t be swimming. They have given me such great support.
