GENERAL INFORMATION

Favourite event: 200m Backstroke has been my main event for quite a while it’s the one I take more serious. The 200m I.M is more of a ‘fun’ event for me.

Finest ever performance/Why: Breaking the Commonwealth Record in the 200m I.M at the Olympic Trials. I swam the race right. I really wanted to win that one. Liam Tancock and I really pushed each other

First international meet: 2000 European Junior Championships.

Role models: Lenny Krayzelburg (USA). He held 50/100/200m Backstroke world records at the same time.

My aspirations are: Focus on Beijing and win a medal. Maybe compete in London 2012, but I become a father in May so that will be a life changing experience I am looking forward to.

Tip for the top: Work hard and have fun along the way.

Life after swimming: I don’t know. I really don’t know. Something involved in sport though definitely.

Music: Trance, House, like all sorts.

If I wasn’t a swimmer I would be a: Another sport for sure. I’ve always been really competitive.

Football, Cricket or Rugby: Football, I am a Manchester City fan. Lived in Manchester all of my life.

Describe yourself in three words: Sporty / Competitive / Out going

Would most like to meet: Jennifer Aniston. I am quite a ‘Friends’ fan.

Most prized possession: Love computer consoles so my PS3, Wii and my PC.

Biggest influence on career: Grandad, Mum and Sean Kelly
