EVENT DETAILS:

Barcelona has a large number of swimming teams and more than 150,000 citizens are members of the swimming teams that compete in national and international events.

Events take place at the following:
The Palau Sant Jordi (swimming and men's water polo),
The Piscinas Bernat Picornell (synchro)
The Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc (diving)
The Club de Natación de Barcelona (women's water polo and men's water polo preliminaries)
Barcelona beaches to the Old Port (open water)

The opening ceremony has four themes: water, fiesta, swimming and the city itself. It will pay homage to swimming, its clubs and to water, as a 'life-giving source'. During the ceremony samples of water from each participating nation will be mixed together.
