Workforce Development Update
Edition 6: 4 February 2008
Hi everyone,
There have been several important meetings taking place over the last fortnight:
We have met with OFSTED representatives in preparation for our AASE inspection, which begins on 11th March.
The UK Coaching Framework planning progressed very well at a recent meeting with sports coach UK.
Also we are in the process of meeting with Regional Directors and Education Officers to discuss the education plan for 2008/09.
Representatives of Workforce Development are presenting at the 3rd UK Coaching Summit hosted by sports coach UK in April at The Ricoh Arena in Coventry. This event is part of an annual series leading up to 2016, and aims to significantly widen the number of key influencers and practitioners involved in the development and implementation of the UK Coaching Framework. The theme of this years Summit will concentrate on how we can build the best coaching workforce in the world.
The South East region have implemented an European Social Fund (ESF) funding project in partnership with Sussex Downs College, which has prompted a great piece of feedback from a beneficiary who spoke about his achievement of the Level 1 Certificate for Coaching Swimming: 'This has helped me as a coach by providing the key foundations of coaching. The course has also changed me as a person. Not only did I learn how to coach confidently, but how to motivate myself as well as others. I now understand more acutely the methods of learning and skill acquisition, handling difficult situations and methods for effective communication, all of which I can apply to many situations in life. I am now able to more fully support the Swimming Club in a coaching capacity, and find myself in a continuous learning mode. I am very grateful to Sussex Downs College and the IOS for helping me to achieve qualification through the On Track project. Thank you!'
See you next time!
