Workforce Development Update
Edition 9: 17 March 2008

Hi everyone

Initial feedback from the National Curriculum Training Programme Pilot is positive and is helping to shape the way forward. The organiser of the pilot, Emily Swain, Swimming Development Officer for Bucks and Milton Keynes Sport Partnership said " overall I thought the course was great, covering FUNdamentals well and expanding on the initial training we have delivered. There was very little overlap which was nice. It was a great course and I have received positive feedback from all attendees."

Please note that from now on all Institute of Swimming delivery/course enquiries should be directed to Customer Services:-
customerservices@swimming.org or 0871 200 0928.

There has been a change to the process for those who hold an overseas qualification and wish to check whether their qualification is appropriate for teaching swimming in England and Wales. In the first instance they should now apply to the National Recognition Information Centre for the UK (NARIC) for an academic comparison of their teaching qualification and send this in to the Awarding Body together with other supporting documentation. Full details are contained in the Teachers & Coaches FAQ here.

The School Swimming part of the website has been updated with new information on the Competition Framework for primary and secondary schools and Aqua Skills Festivals. Click here to read more.

That’s all for now, more news in a fortnight’s time.
