MAIN NEWS GB ‘giant-killers’ secure Olympic slots BRITISH divers will compete in every event at this summer’s Olympic Games after Beijing’s World Cup qualifier produced a set of results which far exceeded expectations.
Thirteen-year-old Tom Daley grabbed the headlines as he secured his chance to become the second youngest British male to compete at an Olympic Games.
But his historic achievement was only one part of a remarkable showing by a team of British ‘giant-killers’, which national performance director Steve Foley believes may be Britain’s best-ever on the international stage.
‘This is the most successful World Cup event for British Diving,’ said Foley. ‘In fact it could be viewed as our greatest result at any international competition. It certainly ranks up there with 2004 and the Athens Olympics.’
