The schedule for recruiting and training new tutors is progressing, with the candidates for 2009 now in the process of completing their Certificate in Tutoring Sport.
Now turning to the Awarding Body, the first in a new programme of Tutor Updates was recently issued. Licensed tutors are a vital part of the ASA’s workforce and it is important that they keep up to date with matters relating to the courses they deliver. Included in the update was the news that they will be issued feedback and specific marks on the courses they run. The Awarding Body intends to continue supporting the tutors in this way and expects to send an update at least every six months.
This week a further update for Approved Centres is being issued. This will include more details of the new charging structure for candidate registration fees from 1st September. Also an Awarding Body Charter has been created to reflect the commitment between Approved Centres and the Awarding Body which will be posted on the website shortly.
The new ASA Licensing Scheme for Aquatic Professionals continues to be popular with over 230 licenses issued since the launch. There are still free licenses available and applications from non ASA or IoS members are welcomed. Click here to find out more.
The Coaching Systems team report that since the launch of the Advanced Coaching Offer the response from the coaching community has been excellent. There have been many testimonials of praise for the project and as of 27th July the team had received close to 150 applications.
Also a great response from employers to the Workforce Audit, launched on 3rd July. Once the survey has been completed, the entry goes into a prize draw to be made when the survey closes on 4th September and winners of the following IoS courses will be drawn: 1 place on a UKCC Level 3 Senior Coach programme, 2 places on a UKCC Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualification, 3 places on a UKCC Level 1 Teaching Aquatics or Coaching Swimming qualification.
