The ASA is playing a key role in helping to shape the government’s Free Swimming initiative so swimming becomes a key activity in getting the country off their sofas and more active.

The ASA will work with Local Authorities and Pool Operators to ensure that the Free Swimming initiative* will drive up attendances at pools and lead to more people swimming more often and having more fun.

We will share the vital lessons we have already learnt and give pool providers participating in the Free Swimming scheme significant financial support for Free Swimming lessons. Local authorities CLICK HERE to see our FAQs about the Free Swimming Lessons Programme. Or CLICK HERE to view the Everyday Swim DVD that shares our experiences of getting more people swimming.

The ASA, working in partnership with Sport England and the five government departments, has also put in place a network of 49 Swimming Co-ordinators, who will be working at a county level with pool operators.

Almost four out of every five councils are offering free swimming for senior citizens, with many more also providing it for young people. CLICK HERE to find out if your local authority is offering free swimming.

BOOK NOW for the Everyday Swim Good Practice Seminars:
The seminars each feature guest speaker Duncan Goodhew, Everyday Swim National Ambassador and Olympic gold medallist.

They are aimed at individuals involved in the planning, delivery and operational side of activities in swimming pools and are an opportunity to hear first hand examples of what can be done to drive up participation.
