Success is Long Term replaces From Club Class to World Class.
Produced by the ASA Technical Swimming Committee, this document provides an explanation to help parents and club helpers understand the principles behind training and competition for young swimmers - although swimming, as a dynamic sport, will continue to change and develop, this will not alter the basic principles behind the long term development of young swimmers.

The story so far... 2000 saw the first phase of changes to Age Group swimming aimed at providing sound foundations for future international swimming in 2008 and beyond, with the introduction of British Age Group Categories, which were implemented at most County Championships in 2001.
2000 also saw the development of the Amateur Swimming Federation of Great Britain Ltd (ASFGB) as a separate body, which will promote its own British Championships. This coincided with the appointment of a new National Performance Director, Bill Sweetenham and a new World Class Potential Director, John Atkinson, both charged with improving the international performance of GB at the Olympic Games in 2004.
