Keri-anne Payne is an Olympic and World medallist in the 10km distance and returned to Olympic action in Rio which marked her third Games.  

The 2015 Swimming World Championships in Kazan, Russia were  Payne’s fifth Worlds after making her debut in Melbourne back in 2007. Payne also delivered medal performances at FINA World Cups and won the Rio 2016 Olympic Marathon test event on Copacabana beach..

Payne (England) returned to competitive swimming with a win at the LEN European Swimming Cup Super-Final in Castellabate, Italy. The former world champion took her first European level title in 2014, winning the 10km sea course in race.

2013 saw her secure a top 20 finish at the 2013 World Championships, completing the 10km in 14th.

Payne made a second outing at an Olympic Games in 2012, finishing fifth in the 10km Marathon event in London.

Payne successfully defended her World title at the Shanghai World Champs with gold in the 10km event. That year she also bagged four medals at the domestic champs including a gold in the 1500m Freestyle. She has also won medals in the pool, notably 400m Individual Medley bronze for England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

2009 was the golden year for Payne, winning her first World Championship title out in Rome completing the 10km marathon event first.

Payne was just two days shy of her 17th birthday when she won 400m Freestyle gold at the 2004 European Short Course Championships in Vienna - her first senior international meet. She turned her attention to open water events in 2007, finishing 11th in the 10km at the World Championships before returning from the Beijing Olympic Games with a silver medal a year later.
