Rio 2016 also saw Milne compete in the Men's 400m Freestyle at Rio 2016 where he finished 13th and set a new personal best time in the process and his other individual swim of the games, the Men's 1500m Freestyle saw him finish 10th and just missing out on a finals berth.
A debut World Championship appearance for Perth City based swimmer Milne (Scotland) saw him secure two final berths in the 800m and 1500m Freestyle, finishing seventh and fifth respectively. Earlier in the season, Milne took the British title for the 1500m Freestyle event in London.
