Lewis White had a breakout season in 2016 as he won medals at his debut Paralympic Games in Rio and IPC European Championships in Madeira, and continues to go from strength to strength.
White's 2018 season kicked off in style with a call-up to the Gold Coast bound Team England squad for the Commonwealth Games, where he secured silver in the S9 100m Freestyle. Off the back of his performance at the British Para-Swimming International Meet 2018, he was selected for his second European Championships in Dublin this summer.
A duo of silver medals is what White returned from Dublin with after he reached the final of all five of his events. Both of his second-place finishes were also British records in the S9 100m and 400m Freestyle.
The British Para-Swimming International Meet in 2017 was a successful one, with White winning a trio of medals one of each colour. The gold came in the 100m Freestyle which secured his place on the World Championships team. However, along with the rest of the British team, he was unable to attend the World Para Swimming Championships in 2017 due to the earthquake in Mexico City.
2016 started well for White as he claimed two medals at the British Para-Swimming International Meet including a national title in the Men's MC 50m Freestyle.
The Swadlincote swimmer made an impression at the 2016 IPC European Championships in Funchal, Portugal, reaching finals in two events and claiming silver in the 100m freestyle S9.
White's 2016 season was rounded off with an individual medal at his debut Paralympics, as he took bronze in the Men's S9 400m Freestyle.
Lewis started competing at the age of 10 at his local club in Swadlincote before moving to Derby in 2013, inspired to aim for the Paralympics after watching coverage of London 2012.
