A unique opportunity to help define, prepare and lead Olympic and Paralympic sports to the Tokyo 2020 Games and beyond, is being offered as an integral part of the British Swimming Board.
The governing body is strengthening its Board as it looks to continue the momentum gained from successful performance outcomes in 2016 and 2017, which saw British Swimming successfully achieve all of its medal targets at both the Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games. The FINA World Championships followed in 2017, which included an impressive medal haul and the successful achievement of all of British Swimming’s performance targets.
British Swimming is seeking an Independent Board Member to provide a vital contribution to the strategic leadership and development of high-performance aquatic sports in Great Britain.
On the journey to Tokyo 2020, British Swimming will be helping to deliver the Aquatic elements of the European Games in Glasgow in 2018 and will continue to host a leg of the IPC World Series.
The Board is keen to attract applications from those with significant experience of high performance sport. The successful individual must have experience of considering complex issues related to evaluating strategic performance. An appreciation of the various aspects of effective modern business practice with particular regard to governance is also essential.
The appointment is for a four year term from January 2018. The applications will be considered by the Nominations Group of the Board.
A remuneration fee of £4,000 per annum is payable, in addition to reasonable travel expenses incurred in fulfilling the role.
