Peaty shows class to take gold in U.S. waters

Olympic Champion Adam Peaty showed strong early season form to take the gold while demolishing the field in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke on the final day of the Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis.

Peaty finished nearly a second-and-a-half ahead as he powered to gold as the British squad added a further six medals to their haul for an event designed to prepare them for the season ahead.

Jess Fullalove earned a hard-fought silver in the Women’s 100m Backstroke while Tom Derbyshire and Stephen Milne both made it to the podium in the Men’s 1500m Freestyle with silver and bronze respectively.

James Guy improved his personal best time in the Men’s 200m Butterfly as he took the bronze medal and Hannah Miley also picked up a bronze in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley.

The British squad of 41 features a combination of podium and podium potential athletes as they continue a racing strategy in preparation for the British Swimming Championships in Sheffield (18-23 April), where titles and selection to this year’s international events including the World Championships will be fought for.

Britain’s younger athletes continued to win medals across the B finals with golds going to Keanna McInnes in the Women’s 200m Butterfly, Charlie Attwood in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke, Kathleen Dawson in the Women’s 100m Backstroke, Rosie Rudin in the Women’s 200m IM and Joe Litchfield in the men’s event.

Luke Davies took bronze in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke, Molly Renshaw a silver in the women’s event and Miley a bronze in the Women’s 200m Butterfly.

The Pro Swim Series will take place at Indiana University from 2 to 4 March.
