Qualification window dates set for 2017

2 Dec 2016

The 2017 British Summer Championships will take place across six days at Ponds Forge in Sheffield from 25–30 July.

The Championships will continue to form part of a broader Performance Pathway Strategy aimed at increasing and supporting junior talent on the journey towards senior medal-winning performance, as well as offering more athletes across the home nations an opportunity to compete at one of the end of season events.

The event is reviewed annually and British Swimming is pleased to confirm that the age groupings for the 2017 event will remain focused at male/female athletes aged 13/14years, 15years, 16years, 17/18years, and 19years and over.

Swimmers will have the opportunity to post a long course ranking time within a “qualification window” which this season will run from 10 March 2017 – 29 May 2017 (inclusive) and, in the same way as this past season, up to 24 top ranked swimmers in each age grouping will be invited to the end of season British Summer Championships.

For those who finish outside of the top ranked places, the next level of talent will have the opportunity of attending home nation championships in England, Scotland and Wales, with details to follow from their respective National Governing Bodies.
