Seychelles silver for Burnell

Loughborough-based marathon swimmer Jack Burnell sealed silver at the second leg of the 2018 FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series in the Seychelles.

Burnell delivered a strong swim over the four-lap race held off Beau Vallon beach that saw him finish just three seconds behind the gold medal finisher, Italy’s Simone Ruffini.

The bronze medal was claimed by Germany’s Rob Frederik Muffels. The 2016 Olympic Champion Ferry Weertman of the Netherlands finished joint fourth.

Britain’s other entrant into the Men’s 10km race was Tobias Robinson who finished 24th overall.

Earlier in the day, the Women’s 10km race saw both Alice Dearing and Danielle Huskisson represent Great Britain, they touched home 10th and 18th respectively.

The next leg of the 2018 FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series will be held in Setubal, Portugal on 9th June.
