A squad of 17 swimmers will attend the Ontario Junior International this weekend for a development opportunity that has previously helped juniors transition into the senior British Swimming ranks.
It will be the second year in succession British Swimming has sent a squad to compete at the event and follows an extremely successful appearance this time last year.
The team comprises 12 identified and selected athletes by British Swimming and five selected by Scottish Swimming.
Commenting on the event, British Swimming Head of Elite Development Tim Jones said: “British Swimming and Scottish Swimming have worked seamlessly together to provide this excellent racing opportunity.
“The meet is perfectly placed to provide a group of 17 swimmers with an extremely high quality junior competition as the culmination of the short course season.
“This event last year saw the emergence of Kathleen Dawson, who has subsequently transitioned into the senior ranks and made some great progress during 2016. We expect some of this group to follow the same path."
The event takes place at the Pan Am Aquatics Centre in Toronto from 16-18 December.
