Amber Keegan 2023 Headshot

Amber Keegan has made her breakthrough onto the marathon swimming team over the past twelve months – with her efforts culminating in selection for this summer’s World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka.

The City of Sheffield athlete comes back into the fray following a long period away from the international scene – last representing a British Swimming team at junior level over 10 years ago.

Keegan’s finish of 20th after the two-per-nation rule at the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup in Sardinia was enough to see her secure her place on the team this summer, with a further outright 20th placed-finish the following week in Settubal provided further preparation for the athlete as she makes the transition from the pool to the lake.

Prior to her involvement with the marathon swimming team, Keegan enjoyed appearances and top-eight finishes at several British Swimming Championships, with the athlete gaining valuable experience as she continued her progression to the top of British distance swimming.
