Kara Hanlon qualified for her first World Championships in Fukuoka thanks to a brace of British titles in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke at the 2023 British Swimming Championships – setting up a big summer for the Scot to follow on from her maiden senior international season in 2022.
Kara's wins in both the 50m and 100m Breaststroke finals - adding to her 100m Breaststroke crown from the 2022 edition of the British Championships - earlier in 2023 earned her a place on the team for the World Championships
The 2022 British title was enough to win her a place at the 2022 Commonwealth Games with Team Scotland – a competition which saw the athlete place sixth and seventh in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke respectively.
The 2022 European Aquatics Championships rounded off the international year for Hanlon with her first British Swimming representation – a competition where she made finals in both the Women's 4x100m Medley Relay and the 100m Breaststroke, finishing fifth and eighth respectively.
