Britain's Greatest female Olympian has visited the Europeans swimming squad today.

Dame Katherine Grainger, in her capacity of UK Sport Chair, came to visit the 43-strong swimming squad on the first day of their training camp in Loughborough.

And one of the five-time Olympic medallist's duties was to present Adam Peaty with the two World Record certificates from the World Championships in Budapest.

She said: "It's been great to see all the hard work going on here today, especially knowing that it is building to a home games in front of a home crowd.

"Listening to what the swimmers are going to be doing over the coming months going into Glasgow, then how they turn that into thoughts to Tokyo was very exciting. It made me want to be an athlete again!"

Chris Spice, National Performance Director for swimming, said:  "It was fantastic for Katherine to take time to come and see us in action today. She is such an inspirational Olympian.

"The staff and athletes really appreciated her spending time with them, and she is undoubtedly someone who was able to motivate everyone just from her presence."
