Support Peaty for BBC SPOTY 2016

16 Dec 2016

Olympic Champion Adam Peaty needs your support in recognising his historic achievements as the countdown continues for this weekend’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The Breaststroke swimmer, who was also included in the 2014 and 2015 shortlists, made history this year when he became the first man to win an Olympic Gold medal for Great Britain in the swimming pool since 1988.

Peaty also contributed to the impressive silver in the men's 4x100m Medley relay, lowering the previous 100m Breaststroke split by more than a second.

At the European Championships in May, Peaty claimed four titles including two individual golds in the Men's 50m and 100m Breaststroke.

The 16 contenders for this year's award were announced on the BBC’s One Show with the winner set to be revealed during the live Sports Personality show in Birmingham on Sunday 18 December.

People can show their support for Adam by voting on the night via the phone or online during the programme which will be screened on BBC One, with further coverage on BBC Radio 5 live and the BBC Sport website.
