Oliver Morgan burst onto the scene at the 2023 British Swimming Championships – recording a hat-trick of titles across all three backstroke events to secure his maiden international call-up for Great Britain at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka.
His first victory at the 2023 Championships in Sheffield, the 50m Backstroke, saw him take the title by nearly half a second over the next best finisher. A victory on the touch in the 100m event soon followed, before another win in a similar fashion in the 200m Backstroke on the final day saw him become the only male athlete to record three British titles that year.
Morgan’s only other international experience came in the USA leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup late in 2022, where he recorded strong performances across the backstroke events.
