Olympic Artistic Swimming

Artistic Swimming was first included in the Olympics in 1984 and in the current format athletes compete in the Duet and Team events. Great Britain has competed at the five Games and sent its biggest team to the London 2012 Olympics.

  • The USA, Canada and Japan traditionally had the strongest syncho athletes at the Olympic Games but Russia has dominated the recent Olympic Games winning all synchro events between 2000 and 2012.
  • At the London 2012 Olympic Games, Great Britain had a squad of 9 synchronised swimmers with Olivia Federici and Jenna Randall competing in both the Duet and Team Event. GB finished in a respectable 6th place in the Team event as Russia took gold.
  • Most recently the British Duet of Katie Clark and Olivia Federici secured the quota place for Great Britain at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with their performance at the Olympic Games Synchronised Swimming Qualification Tournament.
