British Swimming Glasgow Meet #BSGM21

3 Jun 2021 — 6 Jun 2021

The British Swimming Glasgow Meet is taking place at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre from 3rd-6th June. The event will showcase the best of Britain's elite aquatics athletes, just seven weeks out from the Tokyo Olympic Games and 11 weeks from the start of the Paralympic Games.

UPDATE - 20th May 2021

Final entry lists are now available for the upcoming British Swimming Glasgow Meet, which will be staged at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre from 3rd-6th June.

Similar to other meets staged recently, and in accordance with the published event considerations, we have been required by Scottish Government and the local Safety Advisory Group to place some limits on entry numbers to fit with the stipulated restrictions and parameters of staging such an event. As COVID cases have risen recently in parts of the Glasgow area, the COVID Plan and restrictions that come with this remain vital to keep all involved in the meet safe.

This has meant that, regrettably, we have been unable to accommodate all swimmers who have achieved a consideration time into the meet. With an open meet section focussed on Olympic and Paralympic preparation, and a junior element aimed at a return to racing, just over 300 athletes have been accepted into the meet. This means the event will be 40 per cent larger and by far the most inclusive meet run by British Swimming and its partners since our return to the competition arena in Manchester earlier this year.

Due to the varying number of entries into each section of the meet (open and junior) and the various restrictions - including caps on numbers in place for each section - the following methodologies for managing the overall entry numbers have been applied. While a consistent approach has been used, there has been a need to apply a different ‘cut’ standard for each section to manage numbers accordingly within each section of the meet.

British Swimming are hosting the British Swimming Glasgow Meet at the city's Tollcross International Swimming Centre from Thursday 3rd June - Sunday 6th June.

The four-day competition – previously known as the Glasgow International Swim Meet – will act as the final consideration meet for those looking to earn selection to the British Olympic team heading to Tokyo 2020.

It will also be an ideal preparation opportunity for the 28 swimmers already confirmed on the plane for Team GB, in addition to those hoping to be a part of Britain’s Paralympic cohort, with the schedule consisting of evening heats and morning finals for the athletes - as it will be at the Games in Japan. Plans are also in place for heat-declared winner races for junior athletes in a mid-day session.

Entries open to athletes at 12pm noon on Tuesday 4th May and will close at 12pm noon on Tuesday 11th May. The entry system is available HERE.

The schedule, event conditions and consideration times are available under the coaches tab. An updated list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) can be found HERE.
