Water Polo Athlete of the Year
2025 Shortlist: Kathy Rogers, Lily Turner and Sophie Jackson
 
                    
                    
                Kathy Rogers
Kathy has led the team as captain throughout the season attending the World Aquatics World Cup in Istanbul and the World Championships in Singapore.
Kathy plays at Centre Back and is the bedrock of the defensive effort from the team. However, she still manages to regularly score goals becoming the 3rd highest goal scorer for GB in Singapore with 8 Goals. This included a hat- trick and player of the match performance against France in the final classification play-off match of the World Championships. Experience from playing professionally in Spain.
Lily Turner
Great Britain’s top scorer at the Singapore World Championships with 18 Goals, scoring 3 or more goals in 4 of the 6 matches. A constant threat to the opposition, technically and tactically one of GB’s best players at all competitions this season. She contributes all over the pitch and is a leader outside of the water bringing a vast amount of experience from her club team in Greece.
Sophie Jackson
Sophie had several strong performances in goal at the World Championships for the Great Britain Team. Her highlight was an impressive 9 saves from first 11 shots in the final classification play-off match against France that help set GB up for the win. Sophie’s work rate and determination inspire the defensive effort for GB. An overall save percentage of 40.4% ranked Sophie in the top 8 goal keepers in Singapore.

2025 Shortlist: Theo Nousios, Tim Dunsbee and Nick Hume
 
                    
                    
                Theo Nousios
Theo led the Great Britain senior women’s team into the World Cup in Istanbul and the World Championships in Singapore. He has been fundamental in developing the culture within the team and his leadership was pivotal in guiding GB to their second successive 11th place finish at the World Championships. His tactical influence was clear to see as GB triumphed over France in the opening group match and pushed Olympic Champions Spain in a closely fought match later in the tournament.
Tim Dunsbee
Tim’s work with the senior men’s team since January has been instrumental in improving the team’s culture over just a short period of time. He led the team to victories over Chechia and Poland at the European Championships qualification tournament, which resulted in a third-place finish in the group to only narrowly miss out on the top two qualification spots.
Nick Hume
Nick temporarily led the GB men’s team to the World Cup Istanbul in December 2024 where the team recorded a strong win over South Africa. Nick then returned to focusing on his role of U18 and U20 female coach. Leading both squads through their respective seasons culminating in the European U18 championships in September. The team went on to win six of their eight matches finishing 11th with a convincing win over Slovakia in the 11th – 12th place classification round. Nick continues to work with the U20 female squad in preparation for the U20 European Championships in 2026.
