Britain's synchro duet take on free final

7 Aug 2018

Britain's synchro duet Kate Shortman and Isabelle Thorpe have scored their second highest international score of the year - and highest in senior competition.

The pair, who have been focusing on junior competitions throughout 2018 finished 11th in the Duet Free Final, scoring 82.0000.

The move from junior to senior has been difficult throughout 2018 as there are a number of more difficult elements to incorporate into routines, but the young Brits have consistently made finals.

But Team Leader Karen Thorpe is optimistic about their progression after this competition. She said: "The duet will be starting to train in a centralised programme as of September when they start to study at the same school.

"The school has organised the study of their A-levels in the morning and have allowed them to use the school facilities to train in the afternoon.

"2019 is set to be a crucial year for the duet to make improvements and start on their quest for Olympic qualification in 2020."

The synchro competition at Glasgow 2018 concludes this afternoon with the solo free final, also featuring 16-year-old Shortman.
