1 Jun 2015

Tonia Couch and Tom Daley completed the Mexico leg of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series with bronze medals in their individual 10m Platform finals.

In the overall series rankings, Couch and Jack Laugher finished on top in the 10m Platform and 3m Springboard consecutively. Daley finished second in the 10m Platform and Alicia Blagg and Becky Gallantree finished in third place in the women’s 3m Synchro.

Couch competed first for the British Diving Team and performed excellently throughout the rounds and secured scores in the 70s for all five dives.

Her highest score was 76.80 for her Back 2 ½ Somersaults 1 ½ Twists piked and finished the final with a score of 370.60.

"I am so happy with my fourth individual bronze this year," Couch said. "It was a tough semi today and I made it. I had nothing to lose in the final and just wanted to show what I could do and I did.

"I ended up in first place overall in the women's 10m. It feels great to have won the World Series."

Daley, who won his semi final, took part in one of the closest finals of the competition and performed consistently.

He has changed the order of his dives as he continues to build to the World Championships and started his final well.

His best dive, the Inward 3 ½ Somersaults tucked, scored almost 100 points and he finished in third place with 545.65.

"I am really happy with the way all of the World Series have gone and to finish with another silid score in a tough competition with a bronze medal puts me in a really good place for worlds this year," Daley said.
