Bronze for Laugher in Mexico

8 Jun 2014

Jack Laugher won bronze in the 3m Springboard in the final leg of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series in Mexico and was ranked in third place in the overall Series rankings.

Laugher has shown great form throughout the season as he has taken on some of the world’s best diver in the six legs.

The City of Leeds diver added bronze to silver from Canada and bronze from Russia to his impressive tally.

In Mexico, Laugher qualified in first place from his semi final and opened the final with a score of 81.60 for his Front 2 ½ Somersaults 2 Twists piked.

He continued to lie in a strong position throughout but when he dropped marks in his Reverse 2 ½ Somersaults 1 ½ Twists piked he had to show his maturity to move back up the field.

Laugher did just that with a score of 93.10 points for his Front 4 ½ Somersaults tucked to move up from sixth to third place.

He finished the final with a score of 504.65 point for his second bronze of the series.

Chris Mears, who was competing for only the second time in the individual this season, finished fourth in his semi final with a score 450.45.
