Francesca Del Celo won her first medal of the 2014 British Gas Elite Junior Diving Championships with 1m Springboard gold on day two in Plymouth.
After finishing on top in the preliminary, the Plymouth diver - who landed the Group A 3m title 12 months ago - secured gold with an impressive score of 408.75 in the Group A final.
There was tough competition between Sheffield’s Millie Fowler and Leeds’s Lydia Rosenthall for the minor podium places with Fowler finishing just in front on 359.35 ahead of Rosenthall’s bronze medal score of 356.60.
City of Leeds made it onto the podium again in the Boys' Group A 3m event, this time represented by Sam Thornton.
Having won 3m Synchro gold with James Heatly on the previous day, Thornton recorded a score of 515.60 for his second gold medal of the Championships. Edinburgh’s Heatly was a close second with 507.75, followed by Duran Omer on 474.85, claiming bronze for Southend.
In the Group B Girls' Platform, Ruby Bower sealed the top podium position for City of Bradford (316.80). She was followed closely by Sheffield’s Tia McGarry (309.95) and Southampton’s Madeleine Angell respectively (281.45)
Matthew Dixon of Plymouth Diving claimed the gold medal in the Group B Boys' 1m Springboard with a score of 376.50. Not far behind, William Hallam and Anthony Harding, both representing City of Leeds, recorded 364.50 and 360.35 points respectively to secure silver and bronze.
There was intense competition in the Group C Girls' 3m with Holly May Prasanto clinching the top podium spot for City of Sheffield (322.10). Behind Prasanto, Crystal Palace’s Scarlett Mew Jensen squeezed into silver medal position with a score of 319.65, just pipping Emily Bearpark who scored 316.80 to claim the bronze medal for City of Leeds.
The competition was equally fierce in the Boys Platform event for the youngest age group. Alfie Brown put Star Diving Club on top for the second time in the competition, after winning the Boys 9 -13 years 3m Synchro.
Brown’s score of 343.15 points sealed gold while Southampton's Brandon Foster claimed silver on 320.95 and City of Sheffield’s Owen Harrison took bronze on 290.30.
