Divers star with three golds in Dresden

A young British Diving Team travelled to the Dresden International Meet with hopes of success and returned with their best ever results at the meet with three gold, three silver and three bronze medals.

Day one saw Shanice Lobb (Plymouth Diving) standing on top of the podium in the Platform with strong and consistent performance. She improved on her prelim score in the final and took the victory with 455 points.

Ruby Bower (Bradford Esprit/City of Leeds) backed up Lobb’s performance with bronze after scoring 415 points.

City of Sheffield’s Jordan Houlden also made it to the podium after struggling with injuries for almost a year. Houlden was competing in the 3m Springboard and put in a mature performance to score 550 points for silver. Ross Haslam (City of Sheffield) finished ninth with 488 points.

Houlden continued his return to form with silver in the 1m Springboard with a score of 493.70.

In the 3m Springboard (B) Noah Williams (Crystal Palace) and Anthony Harding (City of Leeds) finished in fourth and fifth place consecutively. The pair looked consistent throughout the final but came up against a very strong field. Williams scored a total of 436.40 for bronze and Harding finished with 431.80 points.

Scarlett Jensen and Maddie Sweet (Crystal Palace) won the silver in the 3m Synchro while taking on more experienced pairs. The Brits fought it out with Canada and Switzerland for second place as Germany carved out their lead. They scored a total of 251.13 for the second spot on the podium.

Houlden returned to the podium again after he teamed up with the Ross Haslam to win the 3m Synchro. They were pushed all the way by the Russian pair but they kept their heads to remain on top. They scored 305.34 to win the event for GB – the country’s fourth in a row.

The third gold for the Brits came in the 3m Springboard (A) with Kayleigh Sinclair (Plymouth Diving) looking focussed throughout the final. She stepped up against tough competition to score a total of 446 points.

Harding finished off the medal run with bronze in the 1m Springboard with a score of 390 points. While Williams finished in 8th place with 356 points.
