British divers dominated the first day of competition at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games with England’s Jack Laugher winning 1m Springboard and Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree combining for the 3m Synchro title.
Laugher - who won 3m Springboard bronze at the FINA World Cup earlier this month - scored more than 80 on two of his dives to finish with a total of 449.90 and claim his first Commonwealth Games title.
European bronze medallists Blagg and Gallantree had a spectacular final dive to finish with a total of 300.24.
The pair were lying in second until a score of 72.54 for their Forward 3 ½ Somersaults Piked put them ahead of Canada's Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware (295.65).
Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow also reached the podium on the first day of diving as they won their first Commonwealth medals with 10m Synchro silver.
The former European champions, who finished fourth at the last Commonwealth Games in Delhi four years ago, were never out of the podium positions and scored 307.92 to finish less than three points behind Canada's world silver medallists Roseline Filion and Meaghan Benfeito (310.65).
