Athlete of the Year – vote for Adam Peaty

4 Sep 2015

Adam Peaty… Three World Championship gold medals and three World Records in 2015. He’s on top of his game and on top of the world. Does he get your vote for Athlete of the Year?

Adam Peaty broke into the world's elite in 2014, winning 100m Breaststroke gold for England on his Commonwealth debut in Glasgow before winning four golds - including the 50m and 100m Breaststroke double - at the European Championships in Berlin.

He backed up his performance in 2015 with not only three world gold medals but also three world records.

The season of his career so far began with the British Championships and as the London Aquatics Centre rose to its feet to cheer him as he knocked half a second off the 100m Breaststroke world record.

There was no better way of making his intent for the World Championships known and he went in to Kazan ready to be chased.

He opened the competition with gold in the 100m Breaststroke on day two then backed it up with gold in the 50m breaststroke and a new world record. Then gold in the mixed 4x100m Medley Relay in a new world record time.

At the time he said: “It’s my first World Championships so I’m not quite used to it all yet. If you slip for one moment, in one race, you’re off. I’m still getting used to that but hopefully by next year in Rio, I’ll be up and running.”
